What is “Wellness”?
Wellness is the integration of mind, body and spirit. The term “wellness” combines “well being” with “fitness” and was first used by the physician H. L. Dunn. In the 70s the costs in the health sector soared, whereupon Donald B. Ardell and John Travis, on behalf of the American government, developed a new model in order to support health policy. This model was based on prevention and people’s self-reliance in order stay healthy.
